If you’re a fan of Chevrolet’s mighty Silverado 1500 pickup, you might be eyeing the new 2019 versions of this classic truck. Choosing the right pickup for your job is important, and the Silverado 1500 offers a lot of different options. If you’re wondering which of the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 engine options and towing capabilities fits your needs, take a quick look here at how the available trims and powertrains compare!
The new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado offers six different powertrains to choose from in order to get the best performance out of your pickup. On the Silverado 1500 Work Truck, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss trims, you’ll find a standard 4.3L V6 with Active Fuel Management. It’s paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, and gets you a hard-working 285 horsepower and 305 lb.-ft of torque. This powertrain gives you a max towing capacity of 7,700 pounds, plus gets up to 21 MPG on the highway!
The beefier 5.3L V8 engine comes in two different options, with Active Fuel Management or Dynamic Fuel Management. You can choose to equip your Work Truck, Custom, or Custom Trail Boss truck with the 5.3L V8 with Active Fuel Management to boost your performance up to 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft of torque, over the 4.3L V6 engine. This version is also paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. If you want to get a LT Trail Boss, LTZ, or High Country model, you’ll get a standard 5.3L V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management, instead. That engine comes hooked to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and it helps you save fuel with standard auto start/stop technology. Both versions of this 5.3L V8 engine let your 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pull up to 9,800 pounds behind you.
You can equip your 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country or LTZ pickup with a massive 6.2L V8, as well. This powertrain includes a 420-horsepower engine to meet your power needs. It kicks out 460 lb.-ft of torque so that you can tow up to 12,200 pounds! It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which also includes the auto start/stop technology to help save gas.
There are also two turbocharged engine options. The small but powerful 2.7L Turbo comes standard on LT and RST models, and gives you 310 horsepower to put to work. It puts out 348 lb.-ft of torque, which amounts to a max trailering load of 7,000 pounds. The eight-speed automatic transmission makes for a smooth drive and excellent fuel efficiency, too!
There’s even a coveted turbo-diesel engine that will become available later. The 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel engine will be available on LT, RST, LTZ, and High Country models, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. So far, no official numbers on its horsepower, torque, or milage have been announced.
