Cadillac’s new V-Series Blackwing models will have a manual transmission with 3D-printed parts! The 2022 CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing will include a standard six-speed manual. Two of its HVAC ducts and its electrical harness bracket will be 3D-printed. There will also be a 3D-printed medallion on the manual shifter knob.

These are the first General Motors vehicles to use this kind of technology. Cadillac was also able to lower costs and waste when making the transmission. The brand also says it will be quieter and more durable than the previous generation of manuals.

Mirza Grebovic, Cadillac performance variant manager, said: “A lot of work went into making the manual possible in both vehicles. It’s something we know V-Series buyers want and it’s something we knew we had to have, so we used innovative processes to make it happen. There are a few ways to really get that connected feel with the vehicle and the manual transmission is probably the most obvious one.”

The CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing will also be available with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The CT4-V Blackwing will be the only sedan in its segment that’s offered with a manual. Both models will be unveiled on February 1st, and they’ll be available sometime this summer.
