The Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison is the perfect truck for any adventure, which is why it has won the first-ever Overland Truck of the Year Award from “Overland Journal.” It beat out the Honda Ridgeline, Nissan Frontier, Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger, and Jeep Gladiator. All six vehicles were judged based on their on- and off-road capability, payload, durability, capability, efficiency, and reliability. The publication’s editors called the Bison “one of the most exceptional overland trucks ever sold in North America.” Editor Scott Brady also said “just a list of its features make it the truck we always wanted, only better.”
The Colorado ZR2 Bison was first introduced in 2019. The Bison package is only available on the ZR2 model. It includes tons of off-road equipment, so you can drive on almost any terrain. You get 17-inch aluminum wheels, large fender flares, steel front and rear bumpers, and front and rear locking electronic differentials. The package also comes with cast-iron control arms, a modified rear axle, and wider rear and front tracks, and a suspension that’s lifted two inches higher than the Colorado Z71.
The 2020 Colorado ZR2 starts at $42,595, and the Bison package is $5,750. You can go with a 3.6-liter V6 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission, or a 2.8-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel 4-cylinder engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission. With the 3.6-liter engine, you get 308 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2.8-liter engine gives you 186 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. You also get up to 5,000 pounds of towing capacity with the 2.8-liter engine.
The 2020 Colorado ZR2 Bison can be built with an extended cab with a long box, a crew cab with a short box, or a crew cab with a long box. Models with a 3.6-liter engine and an extended cab have 1,357 pounds of payload. Long bed models have nearly 50 cubic feet of interior cargo space. There are nine exterior colors to choose from, including shadow gray metallic, kinetic blue metallic, and Cajun red tintcoat.
Every 2020 Colorado ZR2 Bison comes with tons of standard features that are great for every passenger. These include an 8-inch touchscreen Infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, an automatic climate control system, dual rear seats with underseat storage, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, a remote locking tailgate, remote keyless entry and remote start, and 4G Wi-Fi hotspot capability. Available features include an Infotainment system with navigation, a Bose premium audio system, and all-weather floor mats and liners.
There are also tons of safety features, like an HD rear vision, forward collision alert, rear park assist, and OnStar and Chevrolet Connected Services, so you and your passengers will always be protected on the road. Every 2020 Chevrolet Colorado comes with a great warranty package, so you can keep yours in great shape for as long as you own it. The ZR2 includes a 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty, 3-year/36,000-mile corrosion limited warranty, 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, and roadside assistance for up to 5 years or 60,000 miles.
