This mid-size SUV is bigger and better than ever before. The Chevrolet Traverse has made a name for itself maximizing space for both passengers and cargo in a mid-sized vehicle. It’s the perfect SUV for a big family, whatever that means for you. You can fill all six back seats with your own kids, or be an awesome soccer parent for half the team. It makes a great road trip vehicle for the parents or the grown-up kids, especially with great safety ratings and additional safety technology. If people aren’t filling the seats, they fold down and slide forward for easy cargo access. You can take everything you need for a great solo escape. This versatile space also provides plenty of room to take you big dogs out for the time of their lives. The Traverse is made to take your family wherever you’re going with enough space for everybody.
The 2018 Traverse has a longer wheelbase than previous models to create more passenger space while preserving most of the cargo space you expect. It has more headroom and legroom for passengers, yet it still beats out competition with 23 cubic feet of cargo space. And if you need additional room to move a kid to college or for your awesome pets, the seats fold down to provide 99 cubic feet of space. This 2018 Traverse has some bolder looks than the previous model. The new front end has narrow headlights and a wide grille, to complement the more upright profile and squared-off look.
Towing capacity and horsepower have also all been improved thanks to some tweaks Chevrolet has made to the 3.6L V6 engine and nine-speed transmission. All of the 2018 Traverse trims will also get better fuel economy than previous models. The front-wheel drive V6 models should achieve 18 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway. For those who prefer the all-wheel drive models, the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse will come equipped with a traction control mode to preserve those front-wheel-drive mileage numbers when the driving’s easy.
We expect more pricing details later this year, but the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse LS and LT trims will probably start in the same $30,000 range as previous model years. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line 2018 Traverse High Country could start around $50,000.

This 2018 Traverse keeps your family connected to the world no matter how many miles you go. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto let you connect all your personal entertainment through the Traverse, so you can bicker over whose awesome playlist is up next instead of which scratchy radio station to choose. Chevrolet MyLink offers an available 8-inch display for easy access. (Psst! You can also choose to add a secret compartment for storing your valuable behind the MyLink display.) The Traverse also has an available OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection. You can connect up to seven devices to check apps, stream music, or catch up on your work.
Teen Driver technology offers lots of advanced features to keep your young driver safe. It automatically mutes audio until front-seat occupants are buckled up. Any available advanced safety technologies will also automatically switch on when your teen is driving, so they’ll have help from Side Blind Zone Alert, Forward Collision Alert, and Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking. There’s also an in-vehicle report to show you how your teen driver performed. It helps identify areas where the young driver is doing well, and areas they might want to work on before the test.
Available Adaptive Cruise Control now adapts to a preset distance from the vehicle in front of you, instead of a preset speed. This lets you cut down on needing to brake and accelerate while using the cruise control. You can set your safe following distance, then let the cruise control adapt to traffic. It’s extra handy if you want to cruise control your stop-and-go morning commute. And if you stop to do the shopping, this Traverse offers hands-free power lifting for the back hatch.
Most of the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse trims offer a 3.6L V6 engine, although a 2.0L turbo is standard in the new RS trim. Both are paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission which promises to improve fuel economy from previous models. This amounts to 5,000 pounds in towing capacity, smooth shifting, and improved fuel economy. The Traverse High Country offers a special advanced twin-clutch all-wheel drive that directs torque to the wheel with the best traction in poor conditions, offering an astounding improvement in driver control on poor roads. Plus, the 2018 Traverse will be the first Chevrolet vehicle to offer an improved version of the Intelligent Stop/Start technology. This upgrade provides a smarter and even more seamless version of this fuel-saving technology.
Almost every Traverse trim offers you the option of front-wheel or all-wheel drive. Now, Chevrolet has improved and upgraded Traction Mode Select so that you can adapt to the state of the road with the simple turn of a dial. The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse with available all-wheel drive has four traction control models to choose from. Normal mode helps improve fuel efficiency. Off-Road mode sends more torque to the rear wheels, giving you better grip on snow, grass, gravel, or loose dirt. For icy conditions, the AWD offers 4×4 mode while the FWD models offer Snow mode to conquer slippery roads. Last but not least, the Traverse offers an available trailering package, which comes with the Tow/Haul mode to keep the Traverse in lower gear for more torque.

The Traverse features first-class space and comfort for up to eight passengers. It’s expected to offer best-in-class max passenger volume and third-row legroom, so everyone’s invited on the summer road trip. Second-row seats are equipped with Enhanced Smart Slide, so it’s easy to access the third-row seats. The easy angle and slide of the seat means you can even leave a car seat in place in the second row. The cabin has active noise-cancelling — it can’t tune out that back-seat bickering, but the ride itself will be quiet and smooth. Heated and ventilated front seats are available for extra comfort on your getaway weekend.
The interior is designed with sleek lines and lots of space, and leather-appointed trim with premium stitching is available for an extra level of class. The infotainment center and driver’s display are designed to offer all the information you need without looking cluttered. Chevrolet MyLink with its compatibility features and available charging stations keeps passengers entertained, and the driver can keep up-to-date with the available Driver Information Center with 4.2-inch color display. The new 2018 Chevrolet Traverse High Country trim offers the choice between Jet Black or a softer Loft Brown interior color scheme. Every Traverse also has a hidden storage compartment in the rear storage area, so your basic necessities don’t need to clutter up cargo space.
Two rows of rear bench seats are standard on the LS trim and available on the LT. They come with quick, safe, and easy seat folding systems, so you can access the third row or fold it all down for almost a hundred cubic feet of cargo space. Premium and High Country trims come standard with two captain’s chairs in the middle row, and a power-folding third-row bench. Chevrolet also provides a rear-seat reminder system to make sure everyone’s safely in their place.
Chevrolet’s safety technology proves that accident prevention is even better than protection. The 2018 Traverse offers up to 14 advanced safety systems. Surround Vision uses four strategically placed cameras to show you a bird’s-eye view of your vehicle. Coupled with the available Rear Camera Mirror, this technology let you make sure there’s nothing but space around and behind you.
