2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
The 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD brings forth a new option of a diesel engine. This exciting new feature combined with more powerful towing capability are what really set this full-size pickup apart from its 1500 sibling. Whether you need a strong truck for your daily construction business, or for the daily hauling of family and livestock, this truck has a lot to offer you.

Almost every vehicle in our dealership comes with a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty, which you won’t find at any of our local competitors. So come and see what we can offer you here in Forest Lake, MN. We are not far from North Branch, Roseville, and White Bear Lake,.
Sitting appropriately between the 1500 and the 3500HD is the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. It really is right in the middle of its two relatives, so it’s great for people who need more power than the 1500 but not quite as much as the beastly 3500HD. If what you need to tow sits in between 12,500 and 18,100 pounds, then this is the perfect truck for you. The 2500HD also has something that the 1500 does not: a diesel engine.
The new 6.6L Duramax turbo-diesel V8 engine offers a 19% increase in max torque according to Chevy. This will give you 445 horsepower and a powerful 910 lb-ft of torque, which is 450 more lb-ft of torque than in the Silverado 1500. If you’re into all the benefits that a diesel engine can offer, it might be worth it for you to go with the 2500HD over the 1500 for that reason alone.
There are four available trim levels; WT, LT, LTZ, and High Country, with special editions like Redline, Midnight, and Special Ops. Configurations include Regular, Double, and Crew cabs with either a standard or long box. Engine choices are the aforementioned 6.6L turbo-diesel V8 or a Vortec 6.0L V8 SFI, and 4WD or FWD is available all around.

Trucks aren’t just made for farm work any more. Many people choose trucks as daily family haulers and even mobile business offices now as well. This is partly thanks to all of the awesome features that now come in trucks like the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. Starting with the media system, you’ll get either a 4.2″ or 8″ diagonal color touchscreen with your standard USB ports and auxiliary jack. Six speakers come standard with the ability to upgrade to a Bose premium sound system (standard in the High Country.) A Driver Information Center sits at eye level behind your wheel and displays things like the speedometer, fuel level, engine temp, tachometer, voltage, and oil pressure.
All trim levels have packages available, making these full-size trucks very customizable. On the WT you can add upgrades like Remote Keyless Entry, heated mirrors, a Remote Locking Tailgate, chrome exterior features, and all weather floor mats. Available features become more luxurious as you go up in trim level. You can add on features like Dual-zone automatic climate control and a power driver’s seat. If you plan on needing to entertain your back seat passengers often, you might want to add the rear seat DVD/Blue-Ray player with a 9.2″ LCD display.
If you’re looking for the right balance of price and features, then the LT trim is probably your best bet. You’ll have the interior upgrades of an 8-inch center touch screen with Chevrolet MyLink, available built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi, an EZ Lift Lower Tailgate, available leather seating and dual-zone climate control. With this trim, you’ll be able to keep your family comfortable as well as have a high performing full-size pickup truck.
The performance differences between this truck and the 1500 version are vast. The 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is extremely capable and powerful, and can tackle some really heavy-duty tasks that the 1500 couldn’t quite handle. The newest version of the 2500HD brings a new diesel engine. The new Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 is the strongest ever, offering up a class-leading 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque.
This new diesel engine is exciting because you can now get more power in an even more efficient way. This engine uses two air inlets to satisfy the intake needs of such a powerful engine. Towing capacity with this is up to 18,100 pounds, which is 5,600 pounds more than the 1500 can do. If you’re looking for the most power, you might want to consider the 3500HD which can tow up to 23,300 pounds, it really just depends on your needs.
Towing capability is obviously a huge reason why people purchase these powerful trucks. For that reason, Chevy has built in some features specifically designed to help with stability, safety, and control with the available Fifth Wheel/Gooseneck package. Trailer Sway Control helps by detecting when your trailer is swaying and automatically applies the brakes of the truck and the trailer to help stabilize it. There is also an available Trailer Camera System which helps you be better aware of your blind spots and even keep an eye on your cargo.
Braking is strong in this truck as well. The 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD comes with 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with segment-exclusive DURALIFE brake rotors. It also has a power-assisted heavy-duty brake system for easy braking even when towing heavy loads. A Diesel Exhaust Brake System is also available and helps to reduce the amount of conventional braking needed when you’re going downhill.

You’ll have many options to choose from when it comes to interior seating. Depending on the configuration of your 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, you’ll either have three, five, or six seats. For material, and also depending on the trim you go with, you can choose between leather, cloth or vinyl. Colors come in various shades of black, brown and gray. Seats feel robust and durable enough for heavy duty use and comfortable enough for a long haul road trip.
The choices don’t stop when it comes to interior features. There are all sorts of different options that you can add to your truck, but here are some of the things you’ll get in the standard base model (WT). A 4.2″ diagonal color touchscreen with AM/FM, USB ports, and auxiliary jack, a 6-speaker audio system, a manually adjustable driver seat with lumbar support, a 3.5″ diagonal monochromatic driver information center, cruise control, and power locks & windows.
You get a ton of upgrades in the pricier High Country trim, as you would expect. The sound system gets upgraded to a premium Bose one with 6 or 7 speakers. You’ll also get an 8″ touch screen with navigation, bluetooth, HD Radio, and a CD/MP3 player. Wireless charging makes keeping your phone charged even easier. The seats are upgraded with heated seat cushions and back, and both front seats get 10-way power adjustable with 2-way power lumbar support and memory settings. These are just some of the main features among many included in the High Country trim.
All of Chevy’s latest in truck safety technology is available in this truck. First, this full-size pickup comes with ABS brakes with Duralife rotors, 6 available air bags, and a full StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System to keep you steadily on the road. Next are the available features designed to help prevent an accident before it happens. Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning are there to help you be an even better driver by warning you of possible dangers before they happen. Front and Rear Park Assist will help guide you into whatever tight spot that you need your truck to get into.
Reversing a truck can be a bit of a task sometimes as many know, especially with a truck as big and powerful as the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. But there’s no need to worry because Chevy’s got you covered with their Rear vision camera. This camera gives you a full view of everything behind you so you can be sure you’re not going to hit anything.
A Tire Pressure Monitoring System is another safety feature in this truck that uses sensors mounted at each wheel to monitor tire air pressure and alerts the driver when it gets low. Teen Driver mode is also included, which lets you fully control and monitor your teen’s driving habits. Nothing can take place of an alert driver with safe habits, but all of the safety and convenience features in the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD will help you be that much better.
