Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Configurations
The first and most basic options you’ll want to consider are the cab size and the box (or bed) size. The cab size refers to the size of the cabin. For cabin and box configurations, Chevrolet offers the Silverado 1500 in a regular cab, double cab, and crew cab with short, standard, and long box options.
The next size up in cabin size is the double cab (or extended cab). The double cab Silverado is the smaller of the two 4-door options with two rows of seating. The double cab is offered with a standard (6.6-feet long) box only and features extra legroom and proper unfixed rear windows.
The final cab size offered on the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is the spacious crew cab. The crew cab is the largest of the three cabin sizes offered in the Silverado, offering 4 doors and additional legroom over the double cab. The crew cab has a short bed option (5.8-feet long) and a standard bed option (6.6 feet long).
Choosing the cabin and bed sizes that work best for you depend on your lifestyle. If you would like to carry more people, the double cab or crew cab options are going to work best for you. If you are looking to haul a lot of cargo, choose one of the larger box options.
The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado is available in both 2WD and 4WD configurations. For our pesky Minnesota winters, I’d recommend getting the 4WD. The 2WD offers great towability and improved fuel economy over the 4WD, but the 4WD offers improved traction, off-road ability and safety. The choice is yours.
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Interior
One of the most notable features of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500’s interior technology is its ease of use and traditional styling. A lot of modern competitors like the Ford F-150 or the Ram 1500 are cramming their interiors full of unusable, cluttered and costly tech. The Silverado 1500 beats out the competition with an elegant, high-tech design that maintains its traditional trucking roots.
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Engines and Trim Levels
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is offered in 5 different trims and 3 different engines. For the purpose of this article, we will omit the WT (Work Truck) trim and focus on the 4 remaining options. At the entry level, Chevrolet offers the Silverado 1500 LS. Moving up the Silverado hierarchy, we have the LT, LTZ, and the ultra-luxurious High Country. The three available engines are:
2015 Chevrolet Silverado LS
2WD MSRP from $28,155, 4WD MSRP from $32,095
Even the entry level LS trim is well-equipped. The LS, starting at $28,155 with a regular cab and standard box is equipped with the Chevrolet MyLink system with a 4.2 inch screen, CD/MP3 capability and Bluetooth connectivity. The LS is available in all body styles and in 2WD or 4WD. Standard, the LS comes with the 285 horsepower 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 engine or an optional 355 horsepower 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine. Both engine options are equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The LS also comes with keyless entry, chrome bumpers and grille, and stainless steel clad wheels.
2015 Chevrolet Silverado LT
2WD MSRP from $31,625, 4WD MSRP from $35,135
The LT trim is the next step up. The LT includes all of the features of the LS, plus an EZ-Lift and Lower Tailgate, Driver Information Center with 4.2 inch display, and improved seating and storage. The LT is also equipped with a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise controls and 17-inch aluminum wheels as the standard. The LT also comes with improvements to the styling of the body with body colored door handles and mirror caps. Performance upgrades come in the way of an automatic locking rear differential for better handling and an optional Max Trailering Package, among others. Ask one of our knowledgeable staff members at Forest Lake Chevrolet Cadillac for more details. The LT is the most affordable trim that offers the legendary Z71 Off-Road package detailed later.
2015 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ
2WD MSRP from $39,510, 4WD MSRP from $42,760
The next trim up on the Silverado 1500 is the LTZ trim. The LTZ is one of the staples of the Silverado 1500 lineup that includes numerous improvements in luxury and performance. The LTZ includes everything that the LT includes with the addition or replacement of MyLink with an 8-inch touch screen, remote start, standard 18-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control, a rear camera, and a power sliding rear window with defrost. The LTZ is only available in the double cab and crew cab body styles and is equipped standard with the 355 horsepower 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 or optional 420 horsepower 6.2L EcoTec3 V8. The LTZ is also available with the Z71 Off-Road package.
2015 Chevrolet Silverado High Country
2WD MSRP from $47,575, 4WD MSRP from $50,850
Finally, the most luxurious and well-equipped offering from Chevrolet in the Silverado 1500 lineup is the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country. The High Country includes everything from the LTZ with the addition of premium perforated leather heated and cooled front seats with power adjusters, a unique chrome grille, 20 inch unique chrome wheels, front and rear park assist, a Bose premium audio system and a bedliner. The High Country is the pinnacle of luxury and the top of the line trim for the Silverado 1500. It doesn’t get any better than this.
Z71 Off-Road Package
The LT and LTZ trims give you the option of adding the legendary Z71 Off-Road Package. The Z71 package includes an off-road suspension with Rancho monotube shocks, Hill Descent Control, All-Terrain tires, a Z71 appearance package and fog lamps. The Z71 package greatly improves the Silverado 1500’s off-road capabilities and gives the truck a very aggressive style.
