While many auto companies are downsizing their SUVs to match the compact crossover crazy market, Chevrolet made a bold move by actually making their all-new 2018 Chevy Traverse even bigger ,and we’re loving it! Indeed, the new Traverse now has the best cargo room in its class, with more legroom overall for three rows of seating. This will be a wonderful family towing car, with seating for up to 8, available AWD, and up to 5,000 pounds of towing capacity. They’ve made some changes to this mid-size SUV that have us super excited.
There are six available trim levels of the 2018 Chevy Traverse; LS, LT, RS, Premier, Redline, and High Country. Under the hood you can choose between a 3.6L V-6 or a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder, depending on your trim level. All come with a nine-speed automatic transmission with the newest and best form of Chevy’s Intelli Stop/Start system. This system lets you tell your vehicle how much space you want between you and the car in front of you, and it will automatically apply the gas and brake for you. This is ideal for stop and go traffic.
Inside the car, there is plenty of space to go around. As noted above, there is more legroom overall as well as more headroom. The 2018 Chevy Traverse’s space behind the third row beats competitors like the Honda Pilot and the Ford Explorer. They’ve added a new feature that lets you slide forward the second row to allow much easier access to the 3rd row. On top of comfortable seating for the whole family, the interior is loaded with the latest Chevy technologies. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard on all six trim levels, loaded into a 7 or 8 inch touchscreen multimedia system. Chevrolet MyLink and 4G LTE Wi-Fi are also available.
The classy High Country trim comes with all of the latest safety and convenience packages available to the Traverse. Here are some of these safety features, also available to add to all trims:
– Forward Collision Alert
– Front Pedestrian Braking
– Low Speed Automatic Braking
– Full Speed Forward Automatic Braking
– Lane Keep Assist
– Surround Vision Bird’s Eye View Backup Camera
– Rear Cross Traffic Alert
– Lane Change Alert
– Side Blind Zone Alert
– Rear Park Assist
– Adaptive Cruise Control
– Intellibeam automatic headlamps
– Teen Driver Technology with in-vehicle report
Something else we absolutely love about the 2018 Chevy Traverse is the Traction Mode Select. This lets you select between Normal, Off-Road (on AWD models), Tow/Haul mode (up to 5,000lb towing capacity), and 4×4 (AWD) or Snow (FWD) mode. Not only can you select which mode you prefer, but your SUV will also warn you to switch to different modes when it detects a change in road conditions. All of this is changeable with the turn of a dial, located in the center console.
