The upcoming 2019 Cadillac CT6 has been spotted during some road testing. The CT6 has ushered in a fresh new strategy for Cadillac. It’s a classically luxurious sedan, but the CT6 is a rear-wheel drive model on a lightweight, aluminum-infused platform. It offers impressive handling and sharp dynamics. Factor in the sophisticated, high-tech interior, the generous space, and approachable price point, and the CT6 sedan is an all-around attractive buy. It’s ready for a refresh for the 2019 model year, and it’s meant to be better than ever.
The new spy photos of the 2019 Cadillac CT6 appear to show a callback to the beautiful Escala concept car from 2016. This CT6 prototype looks like it’s undergoing some big visual tweaks, some of which look familiar to the Escala. The grille and lower bumper are visible in the spy shots, even under their camouflage covers. The concept car’s grille, with its floating pinhead pattern, looks very similar to the one we can see outlined through the camo. Additionally, the lower bumper valance of the prototype CT6 matches up with the Escala’s design concept.
The 2019 Cadillac CT6 prototype also appears to borrow thinner, more horizontal headlights from the concept car. On the prototype, the lights almost meet the grille, giving the front a lower, sleeker look than the current design. Currently, the headlights on the CT6 are vertical, and we expect the tail-lights will also reflect this design change. These spy shots don’t give us a good look at the tail end of the 2019 Cadillac CT6, but the Escala concept drawings show tail-lights set both horizontally and vertically, with sharp, interesting angles at the corners. Emphasizing these sleek edges makes the Escala, and presumably the 2019 Cadillac CT6, look even sportier than the current CT6 model.
There are no interior shots of the 2019 Cadillac CT6 yet, but given how amazingly comfortable and sophisticated the current interior is, it might not change all that much. We expect some new technology will find its way in, including Cadillac’s Super Cruise self-driving system and other driving aids. The CT6 offers an impressive and responsive driving experience, but Super Cruise is meant to take over for you on those boring highway commutes. Cadillac has updated the CUE infotainment system, as well, so the 2019 Cadillac CT6 will probably feature the new, user-friendly version.
It’s also unclear what kind of powertrain we can expect for the 2019 Cadillac CT6. However, Cadillac is set to release a twin-turbocharged 4.2L V8 in the near future. It might be available in this facelifted CT6. The 2019 Cadillac CT6 still won’t be available as part of the sport-performance V-series, though. As usual, the Cadillac CT6 is all about refinement, so its powertrain is designed to give a silky-smooth ride with quiet, unexpected power. The powertrains that are made available will surely provide the power you need without any jostle or noise in your luxurious cabin!
